Bob MacLeod

I have been teaching English in Taiwan since 1997. I’m from Dalhousie, New Brunswick, which is a small town in eastern Canada. I come from a family of educators. My father is a retired principal and my sister is a teacher in Canada. I have a Bachelor of Education from the University of New Brunswick. In my free time, I enjoy cycling in the hills surrounding Taipei, playing hockey, baseball and traveling. My greatest enjoyment comes from watching my students’ progress from learning the alphabet to being able to write a composition on their own.

Daniel Ray

Hi everyone. My name’s Daniel Ray. I was born and raised in the beautiful small town of Cornelius, North Carolina, USA. I earned my B.A. in History from Campbell University in 2005 and was eager to experience a new culture, learn a new language and share my own culture with others, so in 2006 I decided to come to Taiwan to fulfill these desires through teaching English. It was the greatest decision of my life. Being an ACES teacher makes me proud. I am surrounded by a group of amazing teachers who have a lot to offer and have helped me become the teacher I strive to be. I know that my teaching abilities will be pushed to the highest here at ACES. I look forward to teaching you!

Eric Baumeister

Eric has been living and teaching English to children in Taipei since 1992.  He graduated in Administration from  Concordia University in Montreal.  Glad to be a member of the hard-working staff at ACES, who maintain a quality learning environment for the kids to learn well, he believes that a grammar-based program is an effective way for children to study English.  In his free time, he enjoys reading, traveling and taking care of five pets.

Trey Gregory

Hi, my name is Trey Gregory.  I was born and raised in Terre Haute, Indiana, USA. In 2006, I graduated from the University of Missouri with a B.A. in International Relations. I’ve been living in Taiwan and teaching English here since December 2009. During my time here I’ve taught a wide variety of students; from phonics to kindergartners to business conversation to adults.  It’s a great feeling watching a student, who can barely speak anything in the beginning, progress to the point where they can have a full conversation in English with no difficulties. I’m very excited to be a part of this talented group of teachers here at ACES.

Jonathan Hum

Hello! My name is Jonathan Hum. My family was initially from the Guangdong Province of China, but immigrated to the United States in the 1920’s. I was born in Washington D.C, and lived there my entire life in a happy suburb. I attended the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA, where I pursued major in Biology and a minor in Political Philosophy, I have been living in Taiwan since 2014, where I originally taught English and Biology to high school students in Central Taiwan. As I have taught very different academic subjects, I have come to adopt a student centered approach towards learning. At its core, this approach prioritizes student involvement and dedication to drive success. I strive to be patient, do my best and expect the same from everyone else.
I greatly enjoyed my time in Central Taiwan but felt a need to explore more of the island. I moved to Taipei in 2019, where I’ve since spent my time tutoring students in the hard Sciences (Biology &Chemistry).
I spend my free time exploring the area; either by camping, or driving through the mountains on my motorcycle. I’ve recently discovered a joy in Journalism and narrative writing, which I am currently practicing as a hobby.

Kevin Chiang

Hi there! I’m Kevin and I’ve been teaching in Taiwan since 2021. I finished my Bachelor’s of Science at Monash University in Melbourne. I wanted to work in early education to make a positive impact on the next generation. When I found ACES, it felt like a place where the teachers were passionate and effective. The progression path is clear, the service is honest, and most importantly, everybody is responsible.  I believe with the support of the family, the hard work of the student, and a strong direction from myself, your child will succeed. I look forward to teaching your children at ACES.

I’m Alf (short for Alfred). I’m from Australia, where I grew up in both Adelaide and Sydney. I have seven years teaching experience having worked in education in both Shanghai and Taipei. I started my own Chinese language learning at Qinghua University in Beijing in 2014. Now it’s my pleasure to call Taipei home.
